Reverend Doctor John R. Gay (although he really prefers Pastor John) is originally from Washington state and has lived in every major region of the United States.  He graduated from the United States Naval Academy and served his country in Norfolk, Viginia as a Surface Warfare Officer before getting out because of his asthma.

He eventually answered God’s call and attended seminary in Dubuque, Iowa and has served churches in Tennessee, New York, and Minnesota.  He received his Doctor of Ministry in 2015 (from UDTS again) with a specialty in Biblical Theology.  Pastor John is really interested in discipleship and the ancient church, and he truly believes God is calling all of us to be his people.

Pastor John is married (25 years now!) to Jennifer (they met while they both attended USNA), and they have five children together: Rob, Michael, Thomas, Margaret, and Joshua.  They live in Ham Lake and are very excited for this next step in ministry.

Dwight is a retired Presbyterian pastor since 2004.  He served churches at Rushmore, Minnesota, Howard Lake, Minnesota and George, Iowa.  After retiring he was an interim minister at Calvin Presbyterian Church before Carol Reed came.  Since then he has served Calvin as a Parish Associate helping the congregation in a variety of ways.  Presently he teaches Adult Education on Sunday mornings, offers devotions at the Men’s Breakfast each month, and assists the pastor with pastoral care.  Dwight and his wife Bette have three children and five grandchildren and enjoy participating in the fellowship and service opportunities at Calvin Church.

Chelsea has been a long time member of Calvin Church. She started as our office administrator in September 2023.  She makes sure that the church operates and runs smoothly. From the church bulletin to the website; she makes sure the information is correct and timely.  Her office hours are Mon-Wed-Fri 12:30-3:30pm.  Tuesday and Thursday she works remotely.  Please send any announcements and information for the bulletin to [email protected] by end of day Wednesdays.
